paradigm"s shift or misunderstanding?
This short article aims to study only one piece of the text «Federal State Education Standard of Higher Education in the direction of training 072500 «design» (qualification (degree) of Bachelor)» (Approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in December 22, 2009, № 780). Standard text posted on the website of the Academy. E-mail of Ural State Architecture and Art Academy: http://www.usaaa.ru. Here is one fragment, which causes our increased interest. Quote this text: «Item 8.6. Final state attestation includes the defense of the final qualifying work (Bachelor project). The state exam is introduced at the discretion of the university.
Requirements for the content, scope and structure of the Bachelor project and the requirements for the state exam (if any) determined by the institution of higher education». «State exam» - is the part of educational standards, which has similar documents in «Bologna Convention». It names «invariable licensing examination» and consists of five or six sections, including a discipline, main for the design profession, the priority for the profession: «Engineering Systems and Equipment», «Constructions», «Materials». The «invariable licensing examination» contains, as a rule, over five hundred questions and suggests the time spent in work on the computer «on line» nearly two or three hours. This exam can not be canceled or replaced by its contents, for example, humanities disciplines. Scientific knowledge of the «licensing examination», determine the range of specialist professional capacity of designer and determine the designer himself as the leader of the scientific and technical progress.
Let’s call these disciplines, put forward in the national, Russian «licensing examination» (i.e. «State exams» and «on-line exams»), (not important! - See the «Standart»): «Cultural Studies», «Politics», «Philosophy», «Lagislation low», «Sociology». These disciplines of licensing items, not specialized for the professional designer, means that the Academy produces the culture experts, political scientists, philosophers, jurists, sociologists? The above named subjects will never contain information studied to design (to project) the art of designing systems of material subject. The amazing paradox has to be comprehended by all stakeholders of the educational process. What is this? Paradigmal shift in the nature of design as an art of creation visualized and materialized worlds for a contemporary man? Is it movement from science and technology toward the idea of morality and theology? Or is it just a misunderstanding?
